  • No racing

The Screwball Rally is a charity rally, it is not a race, there are no prizes for being the first to finish a day or stage. The main aim is to have safe fun on Europe's roads, visit some new countries, or re-visit old ones. Have a party every night and raise loads money for your chosen charity. J and M events LTD can take no responsibility for any accidents or damage caused by anyone taking part in the Screwball Rally.

  • No Ramming

The car you have bought may be a piece of junk that is destined to be crushed the minute you get back to the UK, but other competitors will be using their daily runner or will be using the same vehicle for the next Screwball Rally.

  • Your car

It must cost up to £750 or have that sort of value. Once you have bought your car you can do what you like to it as long as the car is road legal. There will be a prize for the best turned out car and theme. £750 is the maximum amount you can spend, buy a car for £100 as long as it's road legal.

  • The Charity, Your Charity.

A minimum of £250 is required for your charity at the start event. This can be made out in a cheque or via a just giving site www.justgiving.com  It's free to set up and all the cash goes straight to the Charity, any team not providing proof of charity donations will be asked to write a cheque or pay the £250 at starting point.

As its a local charity or a charity you have a passion for it will be easier to raise the £250 required, its a Charity that you have a part in, a charity that means something to you or a loved one The Screwball team will be making their donation to www.bluebellwood.org or www.justgiving.com/screwballrally to make a donTION

  • Alcohol

All teams must have at least 1 sober driver at all time's, drivers will be breath tested at the beginning of every day, teams with no driver under the legal limit for the country we are in will not be allowed to set off until 1 team member is under the legal limit.

  • Modifications.

Modify your Screwball car to suit you, paint it, trim it, sticker it up, or just buy it, run it, scrap it, it's up to you. Become Spiderman, Batman or the names Bond, Basildon Bond for the weekend. There is no limit to how much you can spend on modifications to your car, as long as it is valued at £750 or less when you started.

Screwball rally will provide merchandising for you car so leave a little space please, advertise your chosen charity, your company, your boss's company, your girlfriend but don't forget if they are getting their name on it, your charity wants a donation, don't just accept cash, can your sponsors do something to help the charity, are they a builder who can offer some work, are they a caterer who can cater for the charity.

  • Documentation

When driving on mainland Europe you will require more documentation than we do in the UK. Visit the sites below to check that you are legal to drive in Europe,

It's your responsibility to check you are legal to drive on mainland Europe.

All drivers must have a full, current UK driving licence, passport and insurance to enter the Screwball Rally, non driving passengers should have a passport. All vehicles must have an MOT, V5 and Road fund licence to cover the full duration of the event. All documents will be checked at the starting point. We would also advise European breakdown cover due to the age of the vehicles and number of miles involved but remember to check the small print as they sometimes exclude older cars.

  • The Ferry

We will have an area where we can all meet on the Ferry, get some breakfast have a drink etc. We will have our final briefing before departing for our first destination.

  • Legal

All teams and team members will be required to sign a legally binding agreement to accept all the rules, terms and conditions of the screwball rally and will indemnify the organisers (J&M Events LTD) of any legal recourse. The word of any Screwball Rally staff or marshals is final.

  • The Route 

We will be travelling through France,Italy, Switzerland and Germany. There will be no fixed roads or routes for you to follow, only a destination point to arrive at each day.

  • The Camp sites

All the camp sites will be of a good quality, we will run the course about s month before the main rally to make sure every thing is acceptable, if not we will change things to suit our needs.
